My name is Nichollette Shorts, i am 16 years old, and I live in the small town of DuBois, Pennsylvania. I am the only black girl in my school. My town only has 2 other black people in it, and that's not counting my family of 4. Ever since I can remember all i ever talked about was acting, singing, dancing, and just making people smile. I've had major roles in plays and talent shows for as long as i can remember. I do what ever I can to be involved with doing what I love. It's hard to do sometimes in this little town with no diversity. Where you hear all of the harsh names, and the things being said about you. In a town where you can't walk down the street without being stared at, or someone screaming something rude out the window. I act, sing, and dance, because that's the only thing that can take my mind off of my problems. The issues within my family, and outside. Don't get me wrong I have a loving and supporting family, but it isn't always easy to keep trying to persue your dreams when you have no money to get what you need to get, like a headshot. Or go where you need to go, like different cities for auditions. I believe god gave me a gift. However good it is, it's there, and all i want to do is use it. I want people to see what i can do, and think it's amazing because it is. Not just come to see the black girl in a play. Or come to see if it's true that every black person can sing. I don't want to be a stereo type, I just want to be me. But i need someone to help me. I need a chance to show the world who I really am, and what I can do.

I always make the honor roll at school.
I had a class with Andy Karl from legally blonde and alter boys this summer.
I get awards for being an outstanding cast memeber.
I took a proffesional stage stunting class in New York this summer
No one else in my family acts, but I want to show them it's something everyone can do and enjoy.
